In this movement, the DADOS podcast has consolidated itself as a space for conversation, listening and expansion of scientific debate on central themes of sociology, political science and international relations. By transforming academic articles into accessible and engaging episodes, the podcast reaffirms the journal’s commitment to broad and qualified circulation of scientific knowledge.

In the last year alone, we published nine episodes, which totaled 522 plays on audio platforms. This number represents an important advance in building an audience interested in thinking about political, social and epistemological issues from plural voices. Among our listeners, the majority identifies as male (53.8%), followed by women (41.2%), which indicates a relatively balanced gender distribution, highlighting the remainder without declaration.

More than simply translating articles to audio format, the podcast has sought to explore the backstage of academic production, valuing the trajectories of authors, methodological challenges and dilemmas of scientific writing. Each episode is conceived as a gateway to the journal’s content, but also as a sensitive listening point for themes that reverberate beyond university walls.

The choice of themes and interviewees reflects our continuous effort to highlight the areas that characterize DADOS’ work, a journal concerned with publishing scientifically rigorous research on burning debates about democracy and inequalities. In choosing podcast guests, we also reiterate the commitment to maintain a diversity of themes and profiles.

Spoken language, conversation about research backstage and the multiplicity of interviewee profiles function as a powerful tool to democratize access to knowledge and search for equity and inclusion in science. By giving voice to researchers from different origins and trajectories, we contribute to building a more representative scientific field committed to social transformation.

As in other digital spaces where we operate, we understand the podcast as part of a larger project: making social science more public, accessible and plural. Listening is also a way of learning and transforming. It is with this attentive listening that we continue betting on the power of the spoken word as a bridge between research and social life.

With this in mind, here are some episode recommendations (Portuguese only)

A Difusão das Comissões de Heteroidentificação nas Universidades Públicas

Interviewee: Adriana S.
