We gather here articles published in DADOS that address some dimension of diversity or inequalities between social groups. As we reaffirm in this week’s opening editorial, Where is diversity heading in open science and scientific publications?, the journal’s team has sought, in different ways, to promote plural participation in publication, with special attention to parcels usually under-represented in science, such as women and/or black and indigenous people.
This is in accordance with IDEA principles (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility), which were the theme of the 25-year celebration of the SciELO Program and are fundamental promoting more just and equitable scientific production.
For the following list, we selected articles that were registered last year, that is, in 2024, which already has all its editions published. The four observed volumes total 34 articles, among which, at least, 21 evaluate some aspect of inequalities, whether they are central themes of studies or social markers of difference estimated between variables.
There are research articles with quantitative or qualitative approaches, dealing with subjects as diverse as public health, scientific production, higher education, the right to abortion, migration dynamics, affirmative action policies, the publishing market, different instances of institutional politics, among others. Check the variety of perspectives!
